The game was a nail-biter, with USA initially pulling ahead 4-2 thanks to a pivotal 2-pointer by Hailey Van Lith. However, Canada turned the tide in the final minutes, managing to take a 16-15 lead with just 2 minutes left on the clock, ultimately sealing their victory over the USA with a final score of 20-18.

Represented by two teams, USA and Springfield, among the eight competing teams, USA Basketball demonstrated strong performance in pool play, boasting a flawless 3-0 record and earning a direct path to the semifinals after clinching the top spot in Pool B.

Led by players like Van Lith, Cierra Burdick, Lexie Hull, and Rhyne Howard, USA showcased resilience and skill throughout the tournament. Their journey included impressive wins over teams like Calgary, France, and Friedberg, with Howard particularly shining with a total of 25 points across all pool play games.

On the other hand, Springfield, comprising Allisha Gray, Cameron Brink, Dearica Hamby, and Linnae Harper, faced tougher challenges in Pool A, finishing with a 1-2 record but managing to secure a spot in the semifinals play-in.

Despite Springfield’s strong start in the play-in match against France, where they led 8-4 at the midway point, they faced a setback in the semifinals against the formidable Canadian team, ultimately ending their run with a 21-13 loss.

The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series is a platform dedicated to promoting and advancing women’s sports, providing an avenue for women to compete at the highest level in 3×3 basketball on a regular basis. This event not only brings attention to emerging countries and players but also recognizes the talents of established and rising stars in the industry. Moreover, it serves as excellent preparation and entertainment leading up to the 3×3 World Cup and the Olympic Games.

In contrast to traditional 5-on-5 basketball, 3×3 is played on a half-court with shorter game and shot clocks, ensuring continuous action. Teams must clear the ball beyond the 2-point line after a made shot, defensive rebound, or steal. The first team to reach 21 points or the team leading when time expires emerges victorious, making each match dynamic and thrilling.
